Mr Loy carried out bariatric surgery on me. Throughout the process, from our very first consultation, I have had a total belief in him. His engaging manner and an outstanding level of professionalism gave me a confidence that I was in good hands and this operation was going to go well.
He took time to explain the procedure and to listen to my concerns and fears, he was clear about what he needed me to do and what I would experience as a result of the surgery.
Mr Loy is a fine surgeon with a great sense of humour. He laughs at my jokes! The procedure went well and I feel better and happier than I have for a long time. It has been a struggle with weight, insulin and all the other great joys of diabetes but now I have hope of a future where I might just be in control rather than being controlled. My sincerest thanks to Mr Loy and his team!
The Bariatric surgery began my journey which so far after four weeks (yes four weeks) has seen a weight loss of TEN Kilos. Thank you indeed!
My Dad was rushed in as an emergency case on a Friday nite suffering from severe stomach pains. Mr Loy did not mess around! After a prompt diagnosis, Dad was given medication for the pain and was operated on early the following morning. A lump of cancer was removed from his bowel and a colostomy bag was fitted. Throughout the whole procedure Mr Loy kept us imformed of everything that was happening and all the staff at the hospital (thanks also to Julie the Stoma nurse) were all extremely helpful and caring. Mr Loy was a breath of fresh air in what was a very distressing time for myself and my family. His bedside manner was amazing, not just with Dad, but with family members as well.
Dad is on the mend now, but it's is good to know that there are people like Mr Loy at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, not only doing his job in a such a professional manor, but he is also putting the "care" back in to health care.
What a gentleman!
An astonishing shining light within the NHS. John Loy saved the life of Miss Sheila Barker in February 2015, when she presented with sepsis secondary to a strangulated hernia. His prompt examination, lack of hesitation in operating, and aftercare were exceptional. At the post op outpatients appointment, he recognised Sheila immediately, and gave a comprehensive account of the surgical procedure, outlining the difficulties he encountered. Hand on heart, Sheila's care could not have been improved upon. We are so very grateful to him and his team, and have notified the Shropshire Star evening newspaper of our respect and gratitude towards him. May he never leave Shropshire !
What can I say !? Mr Loy is a fabulous man with an impeccable 'bed side manner'. He explained thoroughly the procedure that I was having and answered all the burning questions I had prior to the surgery. I have other underlying medical issues that required my bariatric procedure to be performed earlier than originally anticipated . Mr Loy assesed my needs and was able to offer me a date to accommodate this ,this alone makes me very grateful. I think sometimes some consultants can be rather patronising, Mr Loy is definitely not one of these consultants. He has very kind and friendly manner and is very much on the side of the patient .
I feel honoured to have had this gentleman perform my sleeve gastrectomy .Many thanks to you and your team.
